Mother Russia

The United States relationship with Russia is similar to my relationship with my drunkard cousin in the northern lands of Michigan. He’s pretty much a drunk idiot who has occasional flashes of brilliance. We have been fighting each other for many years now but when the situation arises we join forces to fight neighbors and other outsiders. The family first thing. I never really liked my cousin but wished him well and hoped he never got himself into serious trouble. And so it is the United States relationship with Russia.

Russia is in serious trouble. Their stock market has collapsed over 50%. Foreign capital is flying out of there as fast as it can get wheels. They have been lulled into a false relationship with China. Make no mistake Russia and China have fought for centuries and as recently as 1969 over land disputes. China is no ally of Russia. Russia may want China to be an ally but only because they have found themselves in a desperate situation. And today in Russia the situation is really desperate. China has the best foreign reserves today and is in the strongest position to assert more world power. Russia is in the opposite position financially. So Russia sails old beat up destroyers to Venezuela, threatens its neighbors to the east and pretends it’s a superpower again trying to prove itself to its new friend the Chinese.

Quite similar to your northern idiot cousin suddenly striking up a relationship with the Mafia in New York City. You know where it’s heading and it isn’t good.

So what do you do? Your gut instinct is to tell your cousin the Mafia is bad. But logic never worked in the past. Why bother. Then you realize the reason he suddenly strikes up this relationship was because he has lost his house, has gambling debts, his wife, and is facing jail time for back child support. He’s desperate to the point of anything goes.

So what do you do? You have a company and as much as it pains you to do it you offer him a job paying double what his drunken rear end is worth. That solves his financial problems temporarily and more important gets him the hell out of NYC and away from the Mafia. Family. Are they not just wonderful?

So President Bush is looking at Russia and China playing kiss and tell. Russia is in financial ruins facing another collapse. Islamic countries to the southwest border it with hostile intentions. China is playing Russia like a flute. Eastern Europe is still strung out on a 60 year socialist guilt buzz. Western Europe is useless and pathetically being taken over by Muslim immigrants.

And right in the center of it all Iran. The same Iran that has been hostile to the west for 29 years. The same Iran took the United States hostages in 1979. The Iraq/Iran war in the 80’s neutralized them. But now they are back. Building nuclear bombs. Funding Hezbollah, Hamas, terrorist teams in Iraq, roadside bombs and who knows what else? Where they behind the funding of the terrorist in the Mumbai, India attacks? And they stand poised to deliver a nuclear bomb to Israel and become a regional power in the Middle East aligned with China.

The Mombasa, Kenyan scheduled to take the White House will do nothing but give speeches and read the teleprompter as the world collapses into chaos and likely word war. Time to settle some old scores and get your stupid sometimes ally back on solid financial footing.

Invade Iran. Decimate its financial power which means destroying its ability to produce oil in the short term. Price of oil doubles, Russia is saved from the ruins of their own making. Destroy Iran's its military. Destroy its ability to stand on its own two feet. Then withdraw and leave the mess for China and the UN to clean up.
