The Torn Tapestry That is Eric Holder

|

I have often heard that each person in this vast world of ours is connected in some way or another by no more than six steps. Such is the nature of humanity. Each of us, whether we realize it or not, can impact the lives of many others through our actions...

I assign my children extra learning assignments each week. Sometimes its just a book I think they should read. Other times I give them abstract notions to ponder and write an essay just to see where they will go with the subject matter. In all frankness I have found myself learning much more from all my children then I think they have ever learned from me.

It is one of these abstract notions I dreamed up that gave me the inspiration for this week's post. This week, the title I threw at my two daughters, the children I still have living at home, was "The Tapestry of Humanity". It was an idea I had once while researching the six-steps-away statement. This is how I explained it to them for their assignment:

"As we travel through life, each person makes decisions and takes actions that affect others. These decisions and actions can be viewed akin to spinning threads. As each of us spin these threads they coalesce into the fibers that make our lives. And just as our individual threads fuse to form fibers, the fibers of all of mankind fuse to weave the tapestry of humanity. Write an essay explaining how you can make changes in your decisions and actions that would benefit those around you. And carry that idea out to show how what you do can shape humanity itself."

Well, the first reaction I got from them was asking what coalesce meant. They should have known better. I pointed them towards the dictionary on the bookcase and went back to reading. I had never read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, I hate to admit, but had been moved to buy it off Amazon after joining FHZ. Anyways, this was a ploy I had used with all my children. Often I put vocabulary in their "Dad Homework" that is above their level. The purpose is two fold. The primary is to instill in them a love for the language. The secondary is to instill in them a sense that Dad will always be smarter than they. A man has to prime things for when he gets older and the dementia starts to set in you know.

Normally when I hand out these kind of things for my children I have some idea of where they will go with it. But, not this time, I was in the dark as to where it would lead. I put down my book and went to the internet looking for some subject material to do my own essay. It was time to input onto FHZ and I wanted to explore this idea of mine more fully. I came upon a blog story about Eric Holder and the "20th Terrorist" Zacarias Moussaoui. As I was reading that story I couldn't believe it. Here was a thing so monstrous, so demonstrable terrible that I could not fathom every American was not aware of it. We have all heard the arguments against Holder's coming appointment as this country's attorney general. He promoted the Rich pardon, pushed for the pardon of the FLAN Terrorists, and oversaw the sad debacle that was the Elian Gonzalez story, etc. But this tale could not be true!

As I demand of my children, I then sourced five other places where the story was verified before accepting its truth. And there it was big as life. Why should this man not be allowed to serve as Attorney General of these United States? Because the peculiar distinction of allowing the 9/11 tragedy to unfold was all his. In my opinion this man, and his particular take on trying terrorist in our courts, was directly responsible for the loss of nearly three thousand lives here on our own soil. I do not make this charge lightly. It is a well known fact, although a media hidden nugget, what this man did. In order to understand it fully, one has to know the facts leading up to 9/11 where one Zacarias Moussaoui is concerned.

Feb. 26th-May 29th, 2001: Moussaoui trains at Norman, Okla., flight school but doesn't get pilot's license.

Aug. 17th, 2001: Moussaoui arrested on immigration charges after arousing suspicion at Minnesota flight school by asking to learn to fly a Boeing 747.

Sometime between Aug 17th and Sept 11th 2001:
Eric Holder prevented the FBI from looking at Zacarias Moussaoui's laptop computer by saying it was a violation of his rights. Had they been allowed to do so they would have become aware of wire transfers of money to the other 19 men and other details that would have likely prevented the attacks on 9-11.

Sept. 11th 2001:
Terrorists crash jetliners into the World Trade Center, Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field. Moussaoui is moved to New York, held as material witness.

Am I the only one outraged by this? Do none of the "people's representatives" elected to our Congress find this inexcusable? Is the fact that the exact spot where Eric Holder's fiber of life joins the tapestry of humanity, during the weeks leading up to 9/11/2001, marks the inevitable fray that resulted in 2966 other fibers bursting into spontaneous flame mean nothing? I want to curse, I want to pound something into oblivion, I want this country to wake up!

We elected a man on a promise of change. Little did any of us realize that change meant putting the security of our nation into the hands of a man without the courage to lift the lid on the laptop of a known terrorist and push the 'on' button. How could we have fathomed that the one person most responsible for the dirtiest mark on this country's history would be put in a position of power in the new administration? How many more dirty stains will we endure before this four or eight year blight will be lifted? God help us all!

Later,
Musing Lew

This was a great post and I also cannot believe the country does not know about this man's history. It is also great that you challenge your children with essays. I like that.

People know about Mr. Holder they just don't care.

It took the peasants in Venezuela 8 long years to finally figure out Chavez. It will probably be the same in the United States fro Obama an his thugs.

Please identify the "sourced five other places where the story was verified before accepting its truth".

I can't find any.

My research indicates that Eric Holder could not have been working in the DOJ in Aug/Sept 2001 as he would not have been in such a position in the Bush Administration. He had worked for the DOJ in the Clinton Administration.
